The Shikomizue EP

Written by Gerrit Elbrink on Friday the 25th of June, 2010
That's right, another brand spanking new EP from the Humanworkshop stables! And this time we're going for the digital distribution market by making the music available on Beatport, Boomkat, Bleep and many other mp3 stores.

As you might remember, Durk (a.k.a. ThorLtd) set off a small dubstep hype within Humanworkshop headquarters by posting his Massive Wobble Explorations video tutorial. Six months later, a little dubstep baby was born! The ''Shikomizue'' EP contains six tracks, two of which composed by non-Humanworkshoppers Gritt (also know from his HWS Dubstep Mix) and IM140, who take care of the more traditional dubstep part of the EP. The other 4 tracks are by our very own Damscray, Maartez, Lysdexic and Indikings, who make sure that the EP gets delivered with a clearly recognizable Humanworkshop imprint.

Now, at this point you're probably wondering: ''That's all nice and dandy, but what's up with this mp3 store stuff, do I have to pay for my Humanworkshop tunes all of a sudden?!''. Well, if you're a DJ, and you're looking for high quality mp3's, you'll have to visit one of the mp3 outlets in the future. We'll be hosting this EP in 320Kbps for free download until the first of September.

After this two month trial period you'll only be able to obtain the high quality files in one of the well know mp3 outlets like Beatport, Boomkat or Bleep. The EP will still stay available for download in 128Kbps, which will suffice for normal listening behaviour, but wont survive any stretching, pitching and re-converting.

So, without further ado, we present to you, the ''Shikomizue'' EP:

Single Tracks:

Damscray - Aitken Basin
IM140 - Kyoketsu Shoge
Maartez - Carry A Nation
Gritt - The Void
Indikings - Ninja
Lysdexic - Ersatz Neologist

Also, as a little extra, Indikings have prepared a DJ set to accompany this release. The original angle was to dig into Beatport and find some jewels amongst the huge amount of dubstep offered there. After thoroughly checking the massive booty, it turned out the most funky and innovative artists were just two, being Opiuo and Vent. This mix should also be considered more of an Opiuo/Vent showcase than a regular dubstep mixtape, but their music just left us with no other choice!
