Crisis hits TapeOp

One of the best music production magazines TapeOp, is forced to stop its free postal distribution in Europe.

You can still get a free copy at selected music stores throughout Europe. For those of you not familiar with TapeOp; its a magazine that breaths passion for Audio. Really in depth interviews with musical and engineering pioneers.

The magazine is funded by adds mostly, and the printed press is currently losing around 30% of revenue on adds. TapeOp is an example of printed press that is valluable, hence it contains information that you dont find on the internet. This raises the question if it would be possible to transform this concept in to a profitable on-line form? If there is a magazine that could pull this of it would be TapeOp. Not because they are web experts (I really wouldnt know), but because the magazine has a trustworthy name, and that is worth money on the internet. Will they ever monetize this position? Only time and the owners can tell.

So if you are in Europe support this mag, its subscription is only 15 GPB, if your in the states or the UK you can still get your free mag here
