For the second year in a row, we’ve been asked by the netlabel guys to do a one hour mix for their 52 hour radio broadcast, which will be on air on Saturday June 14th 2025! This year’s contribution is once again by our very own Leisure-B, and features the following tracks:
Leisure-B, Julian Winter & Tommy Danger – None Taken
The first track this year is by Tommy Danger, Julian Winter and myself, and is called “None Taken”. It’s the title track of our upcoming EP, which will be coming out somewhere in the next month. Me and Julian have been doing one track with Tommy on each of our last EPs, and now the three of us figured the time has come to create a complete EP together. The result is a wild mix of psychedelic New York style rap, with the explicit signature of all three of us. Have a listen, Leisure-B, Julian Winter and Tommy Danger – None Taken!
Julian Winter – Broom Shrub
Next up is Broom Shrub by Julian Winter, from his Film Noir EP, which came out in 2024. The tracks for Film Noir were originally created for the indie game Noir In Hong Kong, but since they were so smooth and awesome, we decided to do a netlabel release with full length edits. Broom Shrub is a perfect sample of the overall EP, slow, soothing and overall very comfortable to the ears. Julian Winter – Broom Shrub!
Leisure-B – Chatter
Yeah, I figured I’d go on a bit of an ego trip, so there’s going to be quite a bit of music featuring myself this year. I’ve been releasing Spoken Word, or Rap solo tracks as singles for the last couple of years, with which I release my ever mounting brain farts. I’m thinking about doing a compilation at a certain point, but until now I’ve been just fine releasing them as soon as they come out. Chatter is a contemplation on the community communication, and basically how I don’t give a fuck about it. Enjoy, Leisure-B – Chatter!
Alexei Kalinkin & Victoria Darian – Sex
Next up is Sex by Alexei Kalinkin and Victoria Darian. Back in 2021, Alexei and Victoria came out with the soundtrack for the adapted play 1984, as performed by the Homeless Theater in Moscow. Victoria’s awesome piano skills combine superbly with Alexei’s otherworldly programming capabilities, which makes the whole album quite the listening experience. As its name suggests, Sex feels like the climax in the overarching composition of the whole. Let us dive in, my friends! Sex, By Alexei Kalinkin and Victoria Darian.
Dunai – Wizard’s Mask
Now get your ears ready for more Alexei Kalinkin! Next up is Wizard’s Maks, which is featured on Illdot0 release by Alexei’s moniker Dunai in 2017. When I asked Alexei how he came up with this crazy track, he explained to me that he always comes up with a story, or in this case a fairy tale, which builds the basis for the overarching composition of the track. He pointed out that by doing this, he would never get stuck in the composition, which seemed very enlightening to me. I personally still haven’t mastered it though, but I guess this track explains the method better than any amount of words could. Let’s have a listen, Dunai, Wizard’s mask!
Monolog Rockstars – Dream Sequence
Next up is one of my personal favorites, a track I did together with my brother Ramon for the Dutch Short film Retina by Niels Veenendaal, in the year 2020. Also known as the Monolog Rockstars, we’re currently doing all sorts of musical projects, among others a remix of a couple of Tommy Danger’s songs, released as Mini Copies, which is currently available on spotify, and of which we’ll play a track later in the show. But let’s not get ahead of myself. Next up: Dream Sequence, by Monolog Rockstars.
Trigg & Gusset – Dim
And now for our label’s cream of the crop, Trigg & Gusset. I couldn’t do a netlabel special without them. They just came out with a new giant album, called “The Blue Prince – The Original Soundtrack” which, as you can guess, is the soundtrack to the new Dogubomb game The Blue Prince. It features an amazing 32 tracks, and is currently available on all digital outlets. Be sure not to miss it. But we’re now going to have a listen to Dim, from the Album “The Way In”, of which, by the way, there are still Vinyl and CD versions available in our webshop. Next up: Dim by Trigg & Gusset!
B-Film Ltd – Excerpt Ambience
The track we’re about to listen to is kind of an oddball in this series, but I was digging through the archives, and it happened to catch my eye, so I figured, what the hell! It’s one of the many live jams we used to do, this time with Polymass, Tonfilm and myself back in 2009. The whole jam is called B-Film Ltd, Live at My House, and is currently only available for download on our website and as a video version of the performance on YouTube, which I might add, is pretty awesome to watch. Let’s have a listen to B-Film Ltd, Excerpt Ambience!
Trigg – Beautiful Remix
Yes, there’s also a Trigg without Gusset, and he actually did some pretty cool stuff. Besides his album Beige, which was released on our label in 2011, he also did a couple of awesome remixes for a wide range of artists in various styles. This remix of Monolog Rockstar’s Beautiful for example, which was released on the Metamorph EP in 2016. And with that said, let’s kick off the second half of this Humanworkshop hour in a more beat driven direction. Next Up: Trigg – Beautiful remix!
Leisure-B – The New Me
Like I said, I’ll be showcasing a little extra of my own work in this year’s edition of our Netlabel day special. This is one of the tracks of which I’m most proud, but which is rarely listened to as far as I can tell, so I felt the need to showcase her a little bit. After I had moved into my new studio, I just had this amazing drive to prove myself with the new gear. At the moment, it has turned more into a habit, but back then it was like new found love. This expressed itself in an explosion of creativity and late night editing. The result is my Sklancer EP, which is available on all music outlets. Don’t miss it. Next up: Leisure-B – The New Me
Leisure-B & Julian Winter – Some People Feel The Rain
Me and Julian have been quite busy over the last couple of years, and it still feels kind of incredible making all this music so quick and yet so close to my heart. Along with the expanding library comes a lack of overview however, I mean, it’s hard to keep track in my mind of all the material we have produced. On the one hand this feels a bit lost, but on the other hand it is a great opportunity to rediscover my own music. I have created a Spotify playlist called “Cool Slow”, in which I have mixed a large amount of cool tracks alongside my own. This enables me to have my own tracks sneak up on me without notice, and gives me kind of fresh ears when I listen to them. This is one of the tracks that keeps surprising me most, is what I’m saying. Let’s listen to Leisure-B & Julian Winter with Some People Feel The Rain
Leisure-B, Julian Winter & Tommy Danger – All Luv (Toxic Love Remix)
Tommy had sent me 15 tracks to be mixed for his mixtape, which meant I had 15 exclusive acapellas by the man himself. I used five of them for the Mini Copies EP with Monolog Rockstars, but there were still 10 left. Julian picked up the All Luv track, and created a composition for it, which will be released mid 2025 on the None Taken EP. I just love this track. It has so much of myself in it, even though this is one of the tracks I have worked least on. Next Up: Leisure-B, Julian Winter & Tommy Danger, All Luv (Toxic Love Remix)
Tommy Danger & Monolog Rockstars – Still 118
Like I mentioned in the intro for the last track, Tommy had sent me some acapellas to be mixed. Once I was done with that, I had a visit from my brother Ramon, who was excited about the lyrics. Since the material wasn’t officially going to be released, Ramon agreed to try to create some new beats for them. Ramon brought his good friend Roland van Leeuwenstijn to help us out on the drums, and then we just went ahead and created the entire EP in two weekends. If you listen carefully, you can hear the fun dripping down. Let’s listen to Tommy Danger & Monolog Rockstars – Still 118.
Leisure-B & Julian Winter – Thin Air
Yeah, once again, since I’m moderating this edition of the Humanworkshop Netlabel Day podcast, I’m going to be wallowing in my own mire just a little bit more. This is one of the tracks which almost came in a dream while editing. It is a perfect example of why I love making music, and I just wanted to share it with you folks, since I have the chance. This track is from me and Julian’s EP Summer Break from 2023, and is also one of my all time favorites. Please have a listen to Leisure-B & Julian Winter, Thin Air.
The Midnight Mansion – Only You
To end this podcast on an easy note, let’s check out what the Midnight Mansion has been up to. Me and Uwe have still been coming together regularly, and the latest fruit of our loom is the Owl’s Eye EP, which as of now has just been released on all digital platforms. Not only has it been a lot of fun working with Uwe, but I’m getting the feeling we’ve found our style with this EP. For the last three tracks it has basically been one evening per track. It feels solid and steady and is an enjoyment in itself. The way it’s supposed to be. Last but not least: The Midnight Mansion – Only You.
