NOXTFaces of Decay

This release illustrates an attempt to look at the terrible circumstances constituting today’s reality and the things we could face in the future.

Initially the music was inspired by, as well as dedicated to, science-fiction and abandoned modernist architecture. But, as is often the case in science fiction, in the end it turned out to allegorically reflect today’s reality in its own way. Ray Bradbury said: “I often use the metaphor of Perseus and the head of Medusa when I speak of science fiction. Instead of looking into the face of truth, you look over your shoulder into the bronze surface of a reflecting shield. Then you reach back with your sword and cut off the head of Medusa.”

Science fiction supposedly portrays the future, but in reality it is really a glance at the distorted reflection of what is happening at the very moment it was written. In the case of Faces of Decay, the inspiration is going through the traumatic experience of being confronted with the terrible Russian invasion of Ukraine and all of its consequences.

NOXT

NOXT is the solo project of Eugene Vladykin, a producer, musician and sound engineer from Russia, who’s currently living in Georgia. He spent a lot of his time traveling the world and has worked with all sorts of international artists in different genres. NOXT is shorthand for NO EXIT, but can also be considered akin to NEXT, a reminder that life must continue and one should move forward. His music illustrates an attempt to look at the terrible reality of today’s world with open eyes as well as imagining the things humanity could face in the future.
