Leisure-BNetlabel Day 2024 Mix

Netlabel Day 2024!

02:58 – Basic – Taster

First up is Taster, a track from 2004 by the Dutch artist, and one of the founding members of the Humanworkshop collective, BASIC. This track is the opening track of our Label’s first CD, gracefully entitled Humanworkshop One. BASIC is currently working as one of the main sound designers of the British audio company the Chinese Room, and is not making as much music as he had been, but we’re keenly awaiting his return to the music scene!

08:18 – Yellowhead – Retrofuturisk Robotheek

Next up is Retrofuturisk Robotheek, a track by one of our new and emerging artists Yellowhead, featured on his latest release, His Worst EP. Yellowhead is a video and audio artist from Georgia, the former Soviet Country, not the American State, who enjoys spending his days in digital oblivion, creating new and refreshing works of art. Keep your ears open for his upcoming releases on our label!

12:24 – Dunai – Atomar Sense

Our third entry is the Humanworkshop classic Atomar Sense by Russian composer and video artist Alexei Kalinkin, under his moniker Dunai, from his 2017 seven track EP Illdot0. That’s spelled I L L D O T 0. Dunai is currently living and working in India, creating new and fresh music everyday. Be sure to check him out on soundcloud for a glimpse of his latest endeavors.

17:16 – Leisure-B & Julian Winter – Speed Freaks

Next up is Speed Freaks from the five track EP Diamond Beach which was released this year by me, Leisure-B, and Julian Winter. Me and Julian have been incredibly busy the last few years creating a vast array of tracks in a wide variety of electro acoustic styles. Stay tuned for our upcoming release “Third Places”, which will be released in the next couple of months!

19:44 – Remus – Double U To Go

Our fifth entry, Double U to Go, by the third Humanworkshop founding member Remus, was released on the four track Psychedelic Black Polka EP in 2021. Remus is currently working as a professional composer for feature films, series and commercials, and every now and then he takes some time off from his usual assignments in order to release the most brilliant of his works on our label. You can find all of his releases on our website humanworkshop.com.

24:35 – Monolog Rockstars – Funny Money

Next up is Funny Money, featured on the five track EP Funny Money from 2022, by Dutch trio Monolog Rockstars. Monolog Rockstars was formed in 2015, and consists of me, Leisure-B, and the brothers Ramon and Bas Lookman from my hometown Bussum in the Netherlands. Besides releasing awesome music now and then, we also do compositions for arthouse films. You can check out our complete portfolio on Humanworkshop.com.

28:53 – Julian Winter – You Are Not Afraid of Anything

The seventh track in this label showcase is “You Are Not Afraid of Anything” by our current top releasing artist Julian Winter, from his latest eight track EP “Film Noir”, an excerpt of the music he created for the game “Noir in Hong Kong”. Besides releasing a large volume of tracks on our Label, Julian is also heavily involved in creating music for video games and short films.

31:20 – Trigg – Dark Flower

Next up is “Dark Flower” by Dutch composer and producer Trigg, which is featured on his 2011 album “Beige”. Trigg is currently mostly involved in the highly successful dark jazz project Trigg & Gusset, who have currently released 3 other LPs on our Label. Trigg & Gusset combines the skill of both gentlemen with a large variety of other Dutch Jazz musicians. I will play a track by them down the line.

37:20 – Alexei Kalinkin & Victoria Darian – F

The ninth track in our label showcase is F, simply spelled the letter F, by Russian composer Alexei Kalinkin and Russian pianist and multi talented artist Victoria Darian, from their combined 12 track LP 1984, a soundtrack for the play 19|84, performed by the Homeless Theater from St. Petersburg. Both Victoria and Alexei have an amazing portfolio, so be sure to check them out if you have the chance.

43:01 – Leisure-B – Space Jews

Next up is the 2024 single “Space Jews”, by yours truly, Leisure-B. After creating music in a large variety of styles, as a solo artist I kind of got stuck on a road which leads to what I can only describe as lo-fi redneck rap. For about 2 years I have been steadily releasing singles in this style, this one is about the current situation in Gaza, the title being based on Dave Chapelle’s namesake joke.

46:00 – Trigg & Gusset – Five Nights

Our eleventh entry is “Five Nights” by forementioned dutch artist collaboration Trigg & Gusset, from their 2020 8 track LP “The Way In”. Both gentlemen have been on a creative rampage ever since they got together in 2013, creating an incredible amount of tracks and thus amassing a large fan base from all over the world in the process. They are currently working on music for a multi platform game, stay tuned for that!

50:44 – NOXT – Black Snow

Next up is “Black Snow” from the eight track EP “Faces of Decay”, released in 2023, by another one of our new and emerging artists, NOXT, spelled N O X T. NOXT is one of many projects by Russian producer and composer Eugene Vladykin. Faces of Decay is an auditive illustration of the difficult geo-political situation on the western border of Russia, and accurately translates the desperation and hopelessness of the state of affairs there.

53:21 – The Midnight Mansion – Magnets

And last but not least, it’s “Magnets” by “The Midnight Mansion” from their 2024 EP “Open”. The Midnight Mansion consists of me and motion grapher Equiloud. The both of us have been working together since 2011 on private as well as commercial projects such as fret_1 and the THX Sphere trailer, but since 2022 we’ve also been composing music together. YOu can find all our videos as well as our discography on humanworkshop.com.

Leisure-B

Dutch born sound- and web designer Gerrit Elbrink has been producing music under the Humanworkshop umbrella, which he helped to found, since 2000. Due to the large influence of sound design and composition on Leisure’s style, his tracks always have a very cinematic character and a very dynamic flow. The mood of his portfolio varies between danceable and loungy.
